Creative Techniques

I didn't enjoy this unit because I'm terrible at photoshop and technology in general and I don't like making pictures into something they aren't. I prefer straight photography because it shows your actual, raw skill. However, I think it's pretty neat that photos can be edited in such ways and that it contributes much to today's media.

Creative Techniques

I'm going to put the photos over the rainy window and bring them together to represent the song meaning.

Motion Final

 Blurred Motion
ISO-100 F/13 SS-1/2
 Chrono Photography
ISO-100 F/16 SS-1/13
 Frozen Motion
ISO-6400 F/10 SS-1/200
 Panning
ISO-100 F/13 SS-1/2
 Writing with Light
ISO-100 F/5 SS-4
Zooming
ISO-100 F/13 SS-1/2

I learned a lot of different, useful ways to manipulate shutter speed with the camera for this assignment. If I could do the project again, I would try to get a better panning shot (I struggled with panning a lot) and I'd do a more creative shot for writing with light. I think I did well with frozen motion and blurred motion, but there is definitely room for improvement creativity-wise.

Some successes I had with the assignment were blurring and freezing motion. I did not have a hard time adjusting the shutter speed or having my dog cooperate. However, I struggled  lot with panning. It was tough to follow the subject without blurring them and often times there was a weird glare in the shots. Another struggle I overcame was zooming. I was not getting the effect as much as I would have liked to, but after making some adjustments, the zooming pictures were fairly easy to take.

Writing with Light

ISO- 100 F/4.5 Shutter Speed- 5"

I think it's really cool how you can draw things with light just by having a slower shutter speed. I hope I can come up with more creative pictures throughout this unit.

Motion Unit: Assignment 2

 Blurred Motion

 Frozen Motion

 Panning

 Zooming

 Writing with Light

Chrono

I like these pictures because they are all balanced and interesting. I also found them to be more creative than anything I could think of shooting which is probably why I like them so much. The first picture of each group is my favorite because of:
Blurred- the way the two blurry people frame the clear ones
Frozen- good colors and is really cool to look at/try
Panning- the dog looks like it's in the grass
Zooming- really colorful
Writing with light-the horizon line and color of the light
chrono- the skier is between the cloud and the pile of snow
